OutofPlace invited four artists to present projects in progress. Each work was introduced and explained by the artist accompanied by contributors, sponsors or commissioners involved in the project. Various aspects of the process were discussed including all aspects of the realisation and difficulties encountered along the way, illustrated through video, documentary photos, models, drawings. The evenings were designed to give participants an insight into the artist’s particular way of working, and the final aim is to build up through these encounters a body of work , documents, organisational, economic and financial information of great importance to all those interested in understanding or gaining competence in working on publically commissioned projects.
The projects required not only professional skills whether sociological, anthropological, cultural, curatorial on the part of those participating but, even more important, an ability to work together in an interdisciplinary mode.
